The Event Steward has final authority to penalize or disqualify a driver, vehicle, or team member for violations of the Electrathon America Rules.
Penalties may be imposed for safety violations, poor sportsmanship, deliberate cheating, or violations of the Vehicle Design Rules or Event Rules. The following are examples of possible penalties:
- Lap penalty: May be imposed for minor infractions.
- Heat or day disqualification: May be imposed for competition violations such as failure to carry required ballast, cheating, or competing without required brakes.
- Event disqualification: May include forfeiture of lap money or entry fees and may be imposed for serious safety violations, knowingly competing with faulty safety equipment, or repeated violations after a warning.
The penalty imposed should reflect the severity of the violation and its effect on safety and competition.
