Configuration #
All vehicles must be three-wheeled (cycle, car, or tricycle) or four wheeled.
Any configuration is allowed.
All wheels must be load bearing, and remain in contact with the ground at all times, even under hard cornering conditions.
Vehicle Dimensions #
Minimum track width on at least one axle must be 2 feet (24 inches), measured center-to-center between the tires.
Maximum vehicle width is 4 feet at its widest point when the steering system is positioned as if driving in a straight line.
Maximum vehicle length is 12 feet.
Stability #
All vehicles must remain stable and under control at all times, both while moving and at rest, including during acceleration, braking, cornering, and operation at maximum speed.
Stability must be maintained under conditions reasonably expected during competition, including off-camber turns, high-banked corners, and windy conditions.
The driverโs contact with the ground must not be used to provide or maintain vehicle stability.
Leaning Vehicles #
Leaning vehicles are permitted provided the driver is not required to balance the vehicle and the vehicle meets all stability requirements.
The leaning mechanism must be actuated by a mechanical device. The driver must not be required to use their body or direct physical effort to maintain the vehicleโs balance.
A leaning vehicle must have a means of mechanically locking the leaning mechanism in a stable position to allow the driver to safely enter and exit the vehicle.
Steering #
- The steering system must provide a turning circle of less than 50 feet, measured curb-to-curb.
- The steering system must be securely constructed and provide reliable, predictable steering without excessive looseness, binding, or interference.
