Some method of communication between the Event Steward and all Course Marshals is required for a race to be sanctioned.
If the course is small enough to allow clear visual contact between the Event Steward and Course Marshals, hand or flag signals are sufficient. On larger courses, a reliable two-way communication system should be used.
