In 2024, Florida Power & Light (FPL) joined Electrathon America as a sponsor to help expand electric vehicle education and competition across Florida.
FPL’s support helped bring new teams into the Electrathon community through electric vehicle kits, hands-on training for students and educators, teacher stipends, vehicle maintenance resources, and opportunities to compete in Electrathon races.
This program was designed to give students meaningful experience applying STEM concepts as they design, build, test, and race their own electric vehicles. For educators, it provided training and resources to bring hands-on electric vehicle technology into their programs.
FPL’s investment also helped create opportunities for more Florida communities to participate in Electrathon America and connect students with the technologies, skills, and career possibilities shaping the future of transportation and energy.
The first FPL-supported teams were soon taking their vehicles to the track, putting months of work and learning into action.
